Mishka-Talk About

Dannielle D
Set to be released on March 30th, Mishka's forthcoming album Talk About is already receiving positive reviews from listeners and fans worldwide. The album features an eclectic sound of Pop/Reggae/Rock while the lyrics showcase a more personal and spiritual growth than from previous albums. Through the music on Talk About, Mishka is able to sing about songs of change, faith, and movement. The new album features sultry grooves, Reggae-influenced sounds, and emotional/empowering lyrics. "Bittersweet", the first single to be released from Talk About, is a song inspired through a personal collaboration, which is evident in the love and happy-filled lyrics. Mishka's personal favorite "Dead End Streets" features a sultry, slow-grooving sound which gives attention to the feelings behind the lyrics, "...try a little harder/still to no avail/you get a little smarter/still no wind to fill your sail/". "Homegrown", a popular track off Talk About, features the music as an Island-inspired melody with a Jamaican vibe. Originally written several years prior, Mishka had a desire to re-record a studio version of the album, with clips provided by Willie Nelson. "Music of the Moment" features up-beat, rhythmic music set to lyrics inspiring others to "dance" and let the music release others into freedom. Throughout the album, Mishka portrays sounds reminiscent to musical influences he first became accustomed to as a child.

After traveling with his parents around the Carribbean Islands as a child, Mishka gained a strong interest in various musical genres including Reggae, Rock, and South Africa's Juluka. By the tender age of 8, Mishka began playing and performing music on his guitar. There was no individual influence behind his desire to play music, as Mishka mentioned, "I grew up with The Beatles, Bob Dylan, and Bob Marley." Mishka used his ears to capture the sounds resembling previous artists' work, while using his eyes to envision emotional challenges of society. This knowledge and expertise helped Mishka's music began to transform into an authentic Reggae-sound while transforming his lyrics into encouraging words of hope, love, and freedom. In 1999, MIshka released his self-titled debut album which spawned his first hit single "Give You All the Love". After the success of the first single, Mishka was more determined to write and record more songs. Shortly after the release of his first album, Mishka toured around the country and recorded his 2005 sophomore album One Tree. Due to the popularity of his previous works, Mishka began to receive high remarks and reviews throughout the entertainment industry. Actor Matthew Mcconaughey highly regarded Mishka's music as the "soundtrack" to his life. In 2006, Mcconaughey signed Mishka to his record label J.K. Livin in hopes of releasing Mishka's music to "the masses". In 2009, Mishka was the recepient for several awards and achievements, which would catch the attention of many listeners across the globe. Above the Bones, the first album released on J.K. Livin, was an instant success as it reached #1 on the Billboard Reggae charts in 2009. Later that same year, Mishka would receive another notable mention as being 2009's Best New Artist for ITunes.

With the release of Talk About, Mishka remains more focused and determined to keep the music alive. "It's a big struggle through all of the challenges," Mishka states, " Though the music industry is turned upside down, I can only continue to keep playing and providing for my family."Throughout his inspiring journey, Mishka remains level-headed and down-to-earth while remaining focused on his love for the music.
