Misplaced

Lisa Stanley

Down the outstretched hall
She sees only darkness ahead.
She calls out to her lover,
Forgetting where she left him.

"Love" she calls.

"Angel" she whispers.

As she walks down the hallway, confused.

The clock is half past two a.m.
She is restless and with desire-
She wants him now...
She needs him now..
Forgetting where she left him.

His face, the smile, still etched in her mind.
The feeling, the passion, of being close to him,
It is enough for the night.

Walking, then running, as she realizes,
She has not heard him answer.
Her heart is racing.....
She has not heard his breathing,
Echo in her ears.

She calls out to her lover,
Whoever he may be..

"Love" she screams!
"My lover" she cries out-

Forgetting where she left him.
