Miss California, Carrie Prejean, Slammed by Perez Hilton in Blog Video

is Gay Marriage a State's Rights Issue like Perez Hilton Says? or Not, If You Look Back to His Previous Blog Post

Perez Hilton didn't like the answer that Miss California, Carrie Prejean, gave during the Miss USA pageant. Perez Hilton asked Ms. Prejean the following question: "Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalize same-sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit, why or why not?" Miss California, taking the "you" literally, answered back in a non-PC way, and responded, in part, "...I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody there, but that's how I was raised and that's how I think it should be, between a man and a woman." Pageant contestants, apparently, are not really supposed to voice their true opinion on such controversial matters when asked. Perez Hilton was so incensed by Carrie Prejean's response that after the pageant concluded, he posted a video to his site slamming Carrie Prejean for her honest answer to his question.

Perez Hilton's video diatribe disrespects Carrie Prejean by calling Miss California the "b-word"

The video diatribe, viewed well over a quarter of a million times, is available at Perezhilton.com in Perez Hilton's playlist. It begins with Perez Hilton stating that the pageant had just ended and that he just had to come and post a video. He said that Carrie Prejean, Miss California, gave the "worst answer in pageant history." Miss California, a strong contender for the Miss USA crown, was booed after she gave her answer to the gay marriage question. She did not win, but did come out as the first runner up. In Perez' rant, he states that, "she lost because she's a dumb ______." He went on to suggest that Miss California should have answered that gay marriage is a state's rights issue.

But wait! Perez Hilton thinks gay marriage is a state's rights issue? Or maybe not...

Perez Hilton was not happy about the passing of Prop 8. In a blog post dated 11-19-08 and titled "A Meaningful Prop 8 Victory" Perez stated in regards to the California Supreme Court agreeing to hear legal challenges on the matter, that, "They've done the right thing today. They've done the right thing in the past. And they will (hopefully) continue to do what's right with regard to our rights!"

I can appreciate that as a gay man, he can certainly disagree with Prop 8. He can even be mad that it passed and work toward having the law changed in his state. That is how democracy works. Looking back to his November post, however, and dovetailing his sentiments with his diatribe about Miss California, Carrie Prejean, it is evident that Perez was fishing for an answer that he personally believed in, and not one that Carrie Prejean personally believed in.

Carrie Prejean's answer was contrary to his own beliefs on the matter and that, in my opinion, speaks of a clear bias on his part. A state's right to determine gay marriage, it seems, is only correct if a state rules in favor of gay marriage, instead of against it. As reported at nydailynews.com before the November ballot initiative for Prop 8, Perez Hilton decried the measure as nothing more than a way to "write discrimination into the state constitution" while he lashed out at an actor publicly supporting the Prop 8 measure. A state's rights issue indeed.

Nice blog. I get plenty of visits to my blog http://www.soccerjerseysmall.com, but even begging on facebook has gotten me no useful comments. I like the "curse often" recommendation, but I'm trying to be family-friendly myself. Maybe the comment cluster idea...

I admire Carrie so much. She is a very courageous woman!!! A real woman not like Perez Hilton. He or she, what ever that thing is called, should be called a bitch.

Apparently Perez Hilton does not believe in free speech! He sat there pouting after hearing her response. Could it be that he is jealous that he is not a woman and must slam a real woman...one who stands up for her beliefs no matter what? Oh, poor Perez, we can see right through you.

    No one gets to have an opinion anymore if it's not so-called "tolerant" .. . . . . .

Tsk tsk ... freedom of speech only applies when it it for the so called pc crowd. She had a clear choice: say what she felt (and know it would not go over well) or say what PH wanted to hear (and lose herself in the process). She chose wisely. Subsequently PH became the next Garafalo and Bernhard.

Regardless how anyone feels about gay marriage, Perez Hilton was WRONG for what he did to Miss California. A judge should be unbiased. Apparently Mr Hilton is not and should never be allowed to judge this or any other pageant again.
