Missing Baby Gabriel Johnson: $Donations Go to Search; Background Checks Cost Money, Says McQueary

Tips, Donations, Useful Links

The case of missing baby Gabriel Johnson, nearly age eleven months, has changed often. A missing person investigation is ongoing. An ensuing concurrent homicide investigation ended when no body turned up during a landfill search. The dual investigations arose from two tales told by Gabriel's mother, Elizabeth Johnson- 1. she told the alleged father, Logan McQueary, that she had killed Gabriel; 2, she told the FBI and police that she had given him away to a couple. Johnson took Gabriel from their Tempe Arizona home on December 18 2009 and drove to San Antonio Texas. Baby Gabriel was last seen, with her, on December 26. A third story is that Johnson- who now sits in an Arizona jail- gave up her baby for underground adoption. (CNN's Nancy Grace summarizes the story here).

McQueary, whose name is on the baby's birth certificate, continues his search for Gabriel, which he began around February 1. He is in the process of relocating from Tempe Arizona to San Antonio, Texas. He will work at a job while continuing his search.

Per a KPHO report in January, the primary intention of The Gabriel Johnson Trust was for donations to increase the amount for the reward (offered by Crime Stoppers) and also to fund McQueary's search for Baby Gabriel. "All of the money will go toward raising the reward and to help fund Logan McQueary's trip across the country." Other news media reported this, too. The money also went toward 'missing person' flyers. As of this article's publication date, there has been no reward offered by McQueary for the return of Gabriel Johnson. (See Crime Stoppers below).

Now that McQueary has traced the same route that Johnson took with Baby Gabriel and his travels are over, the The Gabriel Johnson Trust donations will to go to the search. "Most of the money's been going towards helping find Gabriel. The unfortunate thing is that everything does cost money, and looking into people and doing background checks... costs a lot of money," McQueary told KPHO. As of this article's publication date, McQueary did not include offering a personal reward.

Crime Stoppers in San Antonio offers a monetary reward. They will pay up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of criminals in the Gabriel Johnson case. The reward does not involve tax dollars. Rewards are paid from court-ordered probation fees from those convicted of crimes. Call 210-224-STOP (7867) or click here to submit your tip online. I offered to place this information on my race car in a high profile area free of charge and hand out paper flyers to every person I came into contact with and was told "No thank you, maybe if you were nascar". Nice.

I was reading one of the pages that crime stoppers doesn't even have reward money for him now? Is this true? This gets a worse ordeal each day. Who is responsible to get this info to proper channels? Because they should be fired.

I really wonder what the legal papers for the set up of the Trust say as to what the funds will be used for?

The family has not put his picture on Crime Stoppers or the FBI page. I know I would have my child's picture any place I could get it! I hope the baby is found safe.
