Missing Boyscout Found Alive in the Rugged Blue Ridge Mountains

Michael was 12 years old and was camping with his boy scout troop. He disappeared with a can of prinkles and a mess kit. He remembered the boy scout motto, "Be Prepared".

He disappeared Saturday (March 17) from his camping site, about noon. He wandered off to look at something in the woods. He was camping with 7 other boys and 3 leaders. They had 25 teams of rescuers looking for him, with dogs. The dogs located him in the blue Ridge mountains in North Carolina, near Virginia, on March 20, about 11am. He was about 1 1/2 miles from his camp site. He had wandered up stream. The rescue team asked him if he was Michael and he didn't answer, until the rescue team said that they were looking for him, then he started to talk. He was disoriented and he was hungry and thirsty. He appeared to be weak from lack of food and drink. He was given peanut butter and crackers, He was disoriented and was transported to a local hospital to be medically examined and to be reunited with his parents. As soon as he is examined they will question him, about exactly what happened,on his 3 day trip, alone in the mountains..

He seemed quite happy to have been found, and to get a chance to ride in the helicopter. They did not show him, personally on the TV, I guess because of his age. But he has been found, and is in fairly good condition. The lady who made the rescue was interviewed on CNN and she was quite happy, that he is alive! He was taken out of the mountains by ambulance to a local hospital. He is being examined now.

One of his favorite books was about a man who survived after a plane crash. A story of survival. The family is extremely excited that he has been found, along with the 80 rescuers, who were also quite happy that he was found alive.

Thank God, the families ordeal has ended, in a celebration!!

Once again, Boyscout found alive, in Blue Ridge Mountains.
