Missing Persons Profile: Travis Baker from North Carolina

WriteOnMom
Case #2 in the missing person series is about Travis Baker from North Carolina. Other then the sources cited in this piece I contacted the mother of Travis and asked for an interview and was told that there was no comment at this time. Not quite sure why there is no comment all of a sudden, but hopefully in the future there can be an interview to help expand this piece.

Travis' case has been featured on CrimeLibrary.com and his parents after 4months of searching are not giving up hope of finding their son. CrimeLibrary.com with information gathered from Travis Baker's family determined that on the morning that Travis disappeared that he had spoken with his father and said he was going to a friends house. After the visit to the first friends home he contacted his girlfriend and said he would meet her for lunch after visiting another friend in the area. The last known contact with Travis came via a text message to his girlfriend that said he was in his friends driveway. At approximately 11:47 Travis' girlfriend called his cell phone and could not get an answer. She waited until after 2 to try and call him again at which time she was directed to his voicemail.

On the afternoon of April 14th Travis did not show up for work, and that is when his family first contacted the Catawba County Sheriff's Department to report him missing. According to CrimeLibrary.com and Travis's family both friends that Travis visited on this day were interviewed by police. CrimeLibrary.com says that at least one of the friends had been given a lie detector test and failed miserably. Since taking the polygraph test the friend has allegedly retained an attorney. Travis Baker's family says they have reached out to the friend in question and he has promised to tell exactly what he knows but has failed to call police with any such information.

CrimeLibrary.com has learned from officials that Catawba County officials have received over 115 tips in this case. They have also searched through three states, and used various modes of transportation and specialized gear to search at least 6 ponds and three lakes.

The family is asking that if anyone has any information about the whereabouts of Travis or if anyone knows anything that could lead to him being found please call the Catawba County Sheriff's Office at (828) 465-8301.

The body of Travis Baker has possibly been found in a back yard in Catawba N.C. They are waiting on dental records I believe. About 2 miles from my mom's house as a matter of fact.

I am from the area and a lot of times in cases like this the family and friends have had contact with the person who know where Travis is...when people go missing in the area it is not randon. They know their victims. My thoughts and prayers are with the family

My prayers are with the family. I read about this case just yesterday on the Court TV message boards. A number of posters outlined the lack of media coverage. Hopefully your article will bring more attention to the case.

Hopefully the friend will cooperate. This doesn't sound good. My prayers are with the family and friends.
