Being the observer I am, I noticed different fans around me. There were Mets fans close by, a bachelor party in front and a gentleman wearing a shirt that said "World's Greatest Grandpa". Down the stairs comes a young couple with two of their parents. They all attempted to sit in the seats they purchased, but one was missing! That's right, an actual stadium seat was missing, gone, caput. They all began laughing while giving each other confused looks. One gentleman said, "It was here yesterday". We began laughing simply because this situation was strangely humorous. I've been going to Phillies games for over two decades and never once experienced a missing stadium seat. I mean, honestly who does this? Who unscrews the seat and just takes it out of the ballpark without an employee noticing? We can only assume it was stolen because about 4 employees (one being a Stadium Supervisor) came down to see the empty space. Each worker just shook their head and laughed. No one could understand how this happened. In the third inning, the staff moved the foursome to a different location so they could watch the game together. What ever came of the missing seat? I have no idea. The employee assigned to our section did not have an answer either (I overheard another fan ask if they found it).
I decided to do a Google search to see if it made the news, but nothing was listed. I certainly view this as a big deal and I'm baffled it's not anywhere on the Internet or on the television. People, a seat from our stadium is missing! I hope one day soon I find out what happened to it. By the way, the Phillies lost to the New York Mets.
