MissingMoney.com: Find Missing or Unclaimed Paychecks

C.J.Adams
I saw the call today for www.missingmoney.com and was a little doubtful whether it would actually work. I went to the Web site, just to see if it would show a pay check from an Old Navy store I had worked at for a period of three months, nearly four years ago. Before I could claim my last paycheck, I had been married and moved out of state.

I entered my first and maiden name in the search engine, and was shocked to see that I had an unclaimed paycheck listed. It was rather easy to claim the paycheck; I had to register with the Web site, which took all of 30 seconds, plus it was free. Then I had to enter in a few answers to easy questions as to why this paycheck belonged to me. Lo and behold, I have a check between $50 $100 being sent to me. There is also the possibility of another paycheck from one other state that I have lived in. Wow.

Not only can you look for unclaimed paychecks, you can look for whether you are an heir or have any assets that belong to you. I thought that that was an interesting feature, and although I know that I have no assets, I was slightly surprised to see my in-laws, and my husbands name, all for the same address, listed as heirs in an Arizona community. As soon, as I can verify with my sister in law as to where there grandfather had lived in Arizona, I am going to claim my husbands inheritance and see if it will go through. Of course, this is not illegal for me because I have his power of attorney in all matters, but it was still exciting to see that there is a possibility that our family may be coming into a little bit more money.

As I said before, www.MissingMoney.com is a great and easy way to see if you have any money at all, from missing paychecks, to unclaimed gift cards, and to see if you some how are an heir. Granted, not all 50 states are listed, but the site updates there information monthly, so you have to check back often to see if something new has popped up. I know that I am going, too!!

Good luck, and happy hunting.
