For giggles, I went into the missingmoney page and put my last name only into the search box at the top, along with a past state that I lived in and clicked search. The first 200 choices of everybody with my last name from all states came up on the screen. Please note that I was seeing things from all states and not just the named state that I entered into the system.
Yippie! Missingmoney has my first and last name right there on page one of this search. The information is for a town that I lived in, but does not tell me who or what would like to give me money. Almost everybody else on the search page has this information listed after their name. At the very end of my missingmoney information list, it has a down-pointing arrow from the amount 100.00, which tells me that I have less than 100.00 waiting.
Next, I click on my name to see what happens. The missingmoney page asks if this is my name, have I lived in this state, have I conducted business in this state, and tells me to click on the button called 'Yes, I can claim' if this is me. It is, so I click.
I am taken to a missingmoney state claims form to fill out with my current information so that this US State can contact me with information on how to get my money. They ask for name, address, telephone number and email information and tell you to double-check everything because this is how the state will contact you about how to get your money.
The next missingmoney page tells me to print the form and follow the directions for mailing it to the State. My printer is out of ink, so I click the box to the right that is called 'I can't print'. This brought up a small missingmoney box with some error information in it. I next tried the box called 'I don't have a printer' and this brings up an address for this state office on where I can ask for an offline claims form to mail.
There is an email address to use with the state address information, so I chose that option and composed the following quick email request for an offline claims form:
Hello, I was just on the missingmoney web site this morning and my name, _____ comes up in (City and State) showing that I have under 100.00 in money someplace. My printer is not working to print the online form to send. Can you mail me a form to fill-out? My address is: _____. Thank you for your time.
Next, I clicked on the missingmoney button called 'Return to search for more money' and repeated the search, this time using my maiden name. Bingo again!!! I have more missing money from missingmoney. There I am, in a place that I once lived, again for fewer than 100.00. So, I click through the missingmoney system again, ship off another email to get my second offline claims form.
I'm more than ready to try this missingmoney slot machine again, so I chose the 'Return to search for more money' button and typed in my deceased Mothers name. Bingo! My mother comes up twice; so I click my way through the missingmoney system, sending two more emails out to request my claims forms for her, also. One missingmoney amount is listed with the name of her missing life insurance policy on it; maybe? What a concept! I've tried for a few years to find out what happened to that policy. Oh, Yippie!! Yippie!!
I don't know if I will ever receive any of this money under my name, but I have just had so much fun! I'm at 4 claims for missing money through missingmoney. Missingmoney just made me smile. One huge and wonderful smile! Everybody should go try missingmoney.com to see what they have sitting there.
