Missouri Veteran Nursing Homes: State Overview

Veterans Benefits for Assisted Living in Missouri

Jolene Thomas
There are seven veteran nursing homes in the state of Missouri. They are located in St. Louis, Warrensburg, Cape Girardeau, Mount Vernon, St. James, Cameron, and Mexico. To be eligible for a Missouri veteran nursing home during their lifetime a veteran must have lived in Missouri for at least 180 days, meet the United States Department of Veterans Affairs guidelines for veteran status, and need full time skilled nursing health care.

Cost is based on each veterans ability to pay. There is a sliding scale to determine the amount each veteran is required to pay. The most a veteran may be required to pay is $1,800. a month.

Many of the veteran nursing homes have a waiting list. They do allow you to apply for more than one location at a time. Allowing for faster acceptance.

Each nursing home offers occupational, recreational, speech, and physical therapy. Has a doctor and registered nurse available 24 hours a day. Dietary specialists, social services and even cosmetology on site.

All seven of these Missouri Veteran nursing homes are in compliance with all 157 regulations in place by the Federal Department of Veterans Affairs.

Even though they are spread all over the state of Missouri. These locations may not be conveniently located for some families. Additional veteran benefits for assisted living may help cover other nursing homes in your local area.

Call each facility to find out of there are any open rooms, and the process for admission.

Where can I find a (CNH) Community Nursing Home for Veterans in the St. Louis Area. I know the regular Veterans Home Locations.Warrensburg-Cape Giradeau-Mount Vernon-St. James-Cameron-Mexico (all in Missouri. However, this is a program that keeps the Veterans near his family so they do not have hours of driving time.

Wow- I didn't know there were assisted living or nursing homes specifically for veterans. That would provide a great sense of community for these elderly folks.
