Missouri-Oklahoma Game Could Have Upset Potential

The Missouri-Oklahoma game on Saturday night could have a lot of upset potential. Though Oklahoma is No. 1 in all of the college football rankings, this Missouri team has the talent to put a lot of points up on the board. This one has the makings of a game that won't be decided until late in the fourth quarter, and that could make it a Big 12 Conference game worth watching.

The current Big 12 standings are about the best in college football, with only two schools that have even lost a game this year. Kansas and Missouri are those two schools, but both are still 2-1 and primed to make a run at another bowl game this year. Winning the first conference games of the season becomes even more important, and that is how Missouri has to approach this game against Oklahoma.

In three games, Missouri has scored 116 points and given up just 43. That includes a very tough loss against Arizona State in overtime, notching the school a non-conference loss that could have easily been a victory. That game could come back to haunt these players if the Tigers are able to put together a nice win streak in conference play. Having to go up against the top ranked team in the country certainly isn't the preferable way to begin it though.

With Oklahoma, it has been a relatively easy start, beginning with a huge win against Tulsa and then continuing last weekend with what seemed to be an easy game against Florida State. That Seminoles team might turn out to be a very nice victory on the schedule, but what the Sooners have to worry about now is taking care of business in conference play. Landry Jones will be expected to throw for over 300 yards and running back Dominique Whaley will need to get his customary 100 yards on the ground. After that though, the defense will have to step up and not allow the Missouri offense to find momentum.

The Missouri-Oklahoma game will start at 8 p.m. EDT on FX, and is definitely one that could be interesting to a national audience. Missouri winning this one would surely put the team back in the Top 25, and Oklahoma has to win this game to prove that it deserves to be ranked No. 1 in the country still. LSU, Alabama, Boise State, and Stanford will all be hoping that Missouri comes out on fire, because that could lead to a huge shake-up in the week 5 college football rankings.
