Mistakes and Errors

This list is bound to get longer, but wanted to start this now. Recently a reader pointed out an error I had made in an article. At one point I also contacted Associated Content about correcting an error and they kindly said they would take care of the error if I carefully described the error and the correction. Since I have quite a few articles on their site - I wanted to start a list of only my errors and corrections.

1. Old Televisions: In an article about old televisions I talked about "phosphorous" being used to make the picture pixel elements when in fact I really mean that it is a compound that glows when hit by electrons and was told that this could be a variety of compounds.

2. Simple Gifts: In an article about the song "Simple Gifts" I referred to "Shakers" as "Quakers" and although I referred people to Wikipedia, I in fact had still made the error even after I read the material correctly but wrote the article incorrectly.

3. The Universe that has an Event Horizon: There are several errors in the article as originally posted - it may be corrected by the time anyone looks at this. There was an error in the title: Whene I used the word "Even" and wanted to use "Event". There were a few typo's and some sentences that could be improved. I have noticed that I have some trouble using the computer with my bi-focal glasses and tend to make these types of errors and not notice them at first - even when I look at it before publishing. I noticed these problems that same day, but could not seem to edit the article again. I have contacted Associated Content about the article and it should be corrected or deleted, for me to rewrite soon.

Many people are critical of Associated Content for such errors that do get into their website and it is important that articles reflect as much accurate information as possible. Often when such errors are pointed out to me, I have two feelings one which is "Why is that person so critical?" and the other "Glad, they found the error and I have a chance to correct it." This is not going to be my last error and I may have quite a number of other errors in other articles I have posted, but when informed of such errors I will update this article. Look forward to hearing both the good and the critical.
