Misty Crosslin Sentenced to 25 Years Behind Bars

This is the most disturbing case of a missing child, because the adults in that little girl's life all seem to be telling half truths about what happened that dreadful night. Misty Croslin was responsible for that child, and she was the last person to see Haleigh Cummings before she disappeared. Recently, Misty Croslin was sentenced to 25 years behind bars for unrelated drug charges.

Sadly, there have been many twisted stories about what happened to little Haleigh, the truth may never be revealed. Interestingly, Misty and the child's father, Ronald Cummings, were later arrested for unrelated drug charges and both are now serving time. Many people feel they are both where they should be, locked up.

However, other folks may argue that Misty Croslin was a minor when arrested and 25 years behind bars is too harsh. Is it really? Can Misty truly be viewed as a "youthful" offender?

Admittedly, she obviously was raised and lived a dysfunctional life, but is that an excuse for her actions? The video of her in the car smoking her cigarette and making her drug deals certainly does not depict an innocent victim of circumstances; she appeared to know exactly what she was doing and probably would be doing it today if she was not caught. This and other facts, leave many a people feeling that Misty Croslin spending 25 years in jail is justified and appropriate.

One fact cannot be denied, Ronald Cummings and Misty Croslin's lifestyle and association with dealing and using drugs clearly indicates that they were both on a path of self-destruction. Unfortunately, two innocent children, little Haleigh Cummings and her brother, were victims of the choices their father and his girlfriend made. It is extremely hard to separate the unrelated drug charges and the fact that Misty was the last person to see Haleigh.

Legally the cases are not connected, and there are no suspects in the disappearance of Haleigh Cummings case. From a moral standpoint, one cannot help but to connect the two. We still do not know what happened to Haleigh, and the last known person to see that little girl before she went missing, Misty, is stiff lipped. Why?

At this point, emotions lead to speculation. For example, one might wonder, "Is Misty lying because she gave the child pills to put her to sleep or did Haleigh accidentally overdosed on some of Misty and Ronald's drugs?" All the lies and mixed stories opens the door to much speculation.

The bottom line, the only person that is a victim or that has been treated unjustly, is little Haleigh Cummings.

Misty Croslin should have come clean and told the truth about what happened to Haleigh long ago, then maybe more people would feel some compassion for her. Failed lie detector tests, stories that change with the time of day and a very cocky, arrogant attitude does not portray Misty in way that allows one to pity her; quite the opposite.
