Mitsubishi Car Prices in India to Go High by April 1st

Mitsubishi Motors has announced the price hike across its models in India by 4-5 percent starting from April 1, 2009.

The reason stated for the increasing price is stated as the imported kits for cars are becoming more expensive. This is because of the increase value of Yen. As the Mitsubishi models in India are not completely localised majority of the components are imported.

According to Y.V.S. Vijay Kumar (Executive Vice- President, Hindustan Motors), "In the last year and a half, the Yen has appreciated 40 per cent against the rupee. This, combined with the appreciation of the US dollar, has come as a double whammy for us".

According to the new price list Outlander and Pajero from the SUV segment bare the additional cost of Rs 1 lakh. All new Montero, a premium SUV price would also go higher as it comes to India as a completely built unit.

Mitsubishi Cedia will be costlier by Rs 50,000 and Lancer by Rs 40,000. There is also possibility of Montero being assembled at its Chennai plant.
