Have you ever played a game that just completely turned you off to a complete genre? Have you ever been completely let down by a game that you thought would be great? Have you ever played a game so bad that you thought it was actually a beta version? If you said yes to all three of these, you might have played MLB 2k9.

From the first time I started the game up, I noticed many errors and problems with the game. In my first game I actually hit 10 home runs with my team, and I even played as the Mariners! Any game that has Ken Griffey Jr. hitting 3 home runs in the first run-through is not worth playing in my opinion. If you are looking for any statistical simulation baseball game, this should not be your choice. If you have a PS3, save some money and buy the updated version of "The Show." This game has a series of bugs that make it difficult to play. There are problems with the controls that can be so frustrating that throwing the controller is not uncommon. Stats in its Franchise mode doesn't add as it should, the statistics will be off from what really happened. Fielding is the worst problem. The sensitivity of the controller in the field spells constant errors throughout each game played. The commentary in the game has plenty of nonsensical oddities. The play-by-play announcers rarely make sense, and when they do it is the 10th time that they have repeated that given line. The bugs in this game outweigh any possible good qualities the game has.

While there are so many bugs, the game does actually have some value (and I'm not talking about eBay here). Die-hard fans will have fun with this game. It does have a solid Franchise mode that has been related to NBA 2k9's in many ways. It is also much like last year's version of the game so if you liked last year's game you will probably enjoy this one too, to an extent. The Living Rosters idea went through successfully though. If a move is made in real life, it will actually happen in your Franchise mode, as long as you are connected to the Internet. Other than these improvements, there is really nothing more to gain from this game.

This game was a poorly crafted, rushed release, and was an overall waste of time. In my opinion I would never recommend this game to anybody unless they were looking for a quick way to waste 60 dollars the painful way. Though this game had some shining moments, the problems associated with MLB 2k9 were just way too overwhelming to overlook. I would give this game a generous 5/10.
