Everyone wants to know who has the record for what when it comes to baseball, so here are the Top 15 hitting records for professional baseball:

15. Highest Career Batting Average - Ty Cobb played for the Detroit Tigers for many years as well as Philadelphia. He had a career batting average of .366.

14. Highest Batting Average (Single Season) - Nap Lajoie holds the AL record of .426 when he played for Philadelphia in 1901. Hugh Duffy holds the NL record batting .440 in 1894.

13. Most Grand Slams in a Game - Travis Hafner hit 6 Grand Slams for Cleveland in 2006 as well as Don Mattingly did for the Yankees back in 1987.

3. Most Career Home Runs By a Pitcher - Wes Ferrel hit 37 home runs over his career playing for Cleveland, Boston, Washington, and New York throughout his career.

2. Most Home Runs in a Season - Barry Bonds holds the record with 73 long balls in 2003 while playing for San Francisco. Roger Maris holds the AL record with 61 home runs in 1961 while playing for the Yankees.

1. Most Career Home Runs - Consider this the holy grail of sports records. Barry Bonds hit 762 home runs in his career playing for the Pirates and the Giants. Babe Ruth holds the AL home run record, hitting 708 past the fences playing for the Red Sox and Yankees.
