The Indians will be hosting the Yankees, the Red Sox will be hosting the Angels and the Diamondbacks will be hosting the Cubs.
The other series is not known yet as the Phillies are awaiting the winner of a one-game playoff between the Padres and the Rockies.
The best bets for the opening games of the NLDS and ALDS are:
Wednesday, October 3rd
RED SOX -155 over Angels
The Red Sox will send Josh Beckett to the hill to face John Lackey. Both are in the running for the Cy Young this season, but Beckett has been better and Lackey has been hurt by the Red Sox this season. The Red Sox are also 6-4 against the Angels this season, but that includes a 5-2 home mark. The Red Sox should be able to edge out a game one victory, just like the previous times these teams have met in the postseason.
Cubs +120 over DIAMONDBACKS
The Chicago Cubs have spent a lot of energy trying to get into the playoffs while the Diamondbacks have been almost assured of a spot for a little while. The Cubs have been playing some pretty good baseball and I see that continuing on Wednesday. The only problem for the Cubs is that they will face Brandon Webb, but I feel a nice underdog win here.
Red Sox/Angels U8.5
Beckett and Lackey will be on the mound so runs should be at a premium. Also, don't forget that playoff baseball tends to have lower scores than in the regular season. The Angels should manufacture a few runs, but I don't see a total of nine on the board.
Thursday, October 4th
Indians +105 over Yankees
There is some great value right here. While the Yankees have been playing pretty good baseball, so have the Indians. I know the Yankees are 6-0 against the Indians this season, but they have yet to face CC Sabathia, who is near the top of the list for Cy Young candidates. Chi Ming Wang has been shaky lately and +105 is a great price to grab the hometown Indians at.
With all the picks made it is time for me to remind you that these are merely the best plays on the board as I see them and they are not guaranteed winners, nothing is guaranteed. I hope you have fun with these NCAA Major League Baseball selections and good luck this weekend. All lines are gathered from BetUs.com and from Wagerline.com and were accurate at the time of this article being written. Keep in mind, line movement may occur.
Remember not to bet more than you can afford to lose and that wagering should be for fun only. If you have a gambling problem I urge you not to place a wager.
