MLB Trade Deadline News

These are the top rumors and news before the July 31st MLB non-waiver trade deadline.

Tigers Could Add Farnsworth

Rumors out of New York and Detroit have the Tigers in talks to acquire reliever Kyle Farnsworth from the Yankees in exchange for a prospect or two. The Tigers are in search for a reliever before the deadline.

Leyland Sees No Deals in Future

Interestingly, while one report has the Tigers close to acquiring reliever Kyle Farnsworth, Tigers coach Jim Leyland says he does no think that the team will make any deals before the July 31st non-waiver trade deadline.

Pinella Says Cubs Move Unlikely

Just like Jim Leyland Lou Pinella does not think the Cubs are going to make a move before the trade deadline. The Cubs are playing the best in baseball right now and may feel that what they have is enough.

Wiggington in Demand

It looks as if several teams, including the Cubs and Twins, may be interested in Tampa Bay infielder Ty Wiggington. Wiggington just hit his 16th home run of the season. A reported deal has Wiggington on the move to the Bronx in a trade for reliever Scott Proctor.

Young off Market?

It appears that Dmitri Young is off the trade market. The Nationals are close to signing the first baseman to a 2-year, $10 million contract. The deal could be announced as early as Saturday.

Braves trying for Teixiera

The Braves have proposed a trade for Rangers first baseman Mark Teixiera. The Braves have offered one of their best prospects, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, shortstop prospect Elvis Andrus and a minor league pitcher in return for the top first baseman on the market.

Loretta in high demand

Mark Loretta's nice first-half of the season has him in high demand. The Mets and Phillies, whose starting second basemen went down this week, are at the top of the list of the teams interested.

Pena drawing interest

Wily Mo Pena is garnering some interest from the San Diego Padres and the Pittsburgh Pirates. If he is moved before the deadline, the Sox look likely to go after Reggie Sanders or Bobby Kielty to replace him as their fourth outfielder.

No News on White Sox Pitchers

So far the White Sox are finding it difficult to trade any of their pitchers. Garland has drawn the most interest, but the price is said to be too high. It looks as if the White Sox will be stuck with Jose Contreras as most teams find his price too high.

As being a big braves fan I think the braves should get Mark Teixiera that would be a big bat in the lineup i tihnk JS should pull the string on it and do it and for what i read they made the Rangers an offer so i think the Rangers should take it and trade Mark to the braves what you all think?? also i hope they get a lefty in the bullpen their giving up 3 guys they should get 3 for 2!!
    GO BRAVES!!!

After all that talk about the Cubs moving Jacque Jones and still no move. Wily Mo Pena will never live up to his potential.
