The scheme of MLM or multilevel marketing is a network. It is a marketing chain where the promotion s done by independent individuals who form a chain of down lines. The promoters of the products of a particular organization or company are not salaried employees; they get commission based on the amount of sales which have been generated through them. They are the second tier of the marketing chain and they are known as the distributors, franchise owners, affiliate partners and sales consultants. One feature which distinguishes MLM from other marketing strategies is that the sales generated by the professionals are not restricted to the parent company; other products which are being introduced to them are also promoted through it. The sales persons promote products in order to get them sold in the market.
Different companies have different marketing techniques and commission schemes. The MLM chain is like a pyramid where the upper edge forms the hierarchy and the lower tiers represent the various domains of lower level marketing. Lower level marketing is a downlink from the upper level marketing channels. The pyramid structure is just an illustration of the concept of MLM marketing since it represents the tier structure of the network.
If the organization becomes successful in its plan of interesting the visitor then it would result in book marking the web page and subscription of the journals. This would result in the increase of popularity of the site and many more people would show interest and join the website. The approach to such kind of business should be carefully planned out to avoid later hassles of falling into money related troubles or management problems.
Multilevel marketing has got its own benefits and drawbacks. The income through MLM is not fixed and hence it can act as a gamble. A gamble can be profitable as well as disastrous. If there is a high level of sales then there would be an increase in the revenue earnings of a franchise unit. The revenue earnings of a distributor or sales person depends on the performance of his down links. The down links performance triggers the chain of MLM and hence the lowest tier of the pyramid determines the performance parameters of the upper tiers.
We can conclude therefore that the new methods are better for making money rather than the ancient marketing strategies. The main objective of this business should not be just to sell of the products but the entire process should be well planned for achieving success.
