M&M's Premium Mint Chocolate Candies: A Luxurious Review

JRS
The MARS company has come out with a collection of M&M's Premium Chocolate Candies that are a 'Must Try!' These new candies are made from the finest ingredients and come packaged just as finely. The 6 oz. boxes are sort of an upright barbell shape, and the box colors vary according to contents. Inside the box, the milk chocolate candies are enclosed in a reseal able plastic bag that coordinates with the box. There are about 5 different kinds of chocolates in the assortment, including: Triple Chocolate, Raspberry Almond, Chocolate Almond, Mocha, and Mint Chocolate.

With their sophisticated colors and packaging, and a hefty $3.99 price tag per 6 oz. box, these luxurious upscale M&M's are geared toward a mature, adult consumer.

I found these delicious treats at the local Target store in the candy aisle near Target's Choxie line of chocolate candies.

I've tried the Mint Chocolate several times and find them very addictive. At first bite I was very surprised to find that there was no hard candy shell. This was greatly surprising because the marbled metallic-looking green and black coloring stamped with the trademark 'm', covering the mint chocolates left me no doubt that the outer shell would be hard and crunchy!

Surprised by this new texture, I just had to investigate. When examined closely, after biting straight through the candy, you could see that it crinkled and shattered a little, much the same way the traditional M&M's do. This told me that the outer shell was firm, but not hard. I found that scraping the candy against my front teeth, I could feel this firmness in the texture. I still have no idea how this texture was produced, or the coloring either for that matter, but it certainly adds to the luxuriousness of these new Premium M&M's.

Prior to the external shell there is a layer of chocolate covering a soft white 'mint' center. The combination is just right. You taste both the chocolate AND the mint without being overwhelmed by either.

The sophisticated jewel-toned box encourages one to take 'a little colorful luxury' wherever you go. Share these sinfully delicious M&M's with friends to celebrate everyday or keep them to yourself. I chose to keep them for myself, unfortunately. That gave me the following breakdown for calorie and nutrition intake:

Nutritional Information:
1-6oz. Box of M&M's Premiums Chocolate Candies in the Mint Chocolate flavor has 4, 1.5oz servings per package. Or about 4, ΒΌ cup servings. Each serving is 240 calories, 9 g saturated fat, but 0 trans fat. Cholesterol is 2 percent or 5mg. Sodium is rather low at 1%. Total Carbs are 8%, Dietary Fiber is 1g, Sugars are 22g, and Protein 2g. They also contain 4% calcium and 8% iron.

On a good note, I did not consume the entire box in one sitting! I had also planned to sample a different flavor on my next trip to Target but so far I haven't been able to turn away from the scrumptious New Mint Chocolate flavored M&M's Premium Chocolate Candies. The mint flavor is great for after dinner, after coffee, or even for stirring into your coffee. I like to hide them in my desk at work or even keep on my bedside nightstand...don't ask; just trust me that they are sinfully delicious and definitely addictive!

Great review. I was surprised to find out in the article that the outer shell is different from the original M&M's.
