Mobile Bay's 12th Annual International Beer Festival
August 29th, 2009
On May 22, 2009 Governor Bob Riley signed HB373, the Gourmet Beer Bill. It took five years few years but it passed this May and now the allowable alcohol by volume (ABV) in beer has been increased from 6% to 13.9%. So expect to taste some new and delicious gourmet beers at this festival. Over 50 different microbrews and imports from around the world will be available for sampling. The Moda! Trolley will move you around the town. The festival takes place in Downtown Mobile on Saturday August 29th from 6-9PM. Check out www.mainstreetmobile.org for more info.
The 15th Annual Bayfest Music Festival
October 2nd - October 4th 2009
More the 200,000 people are expected to converge on the street of Downtown Mobile for this three day extravaganza. This year expect over 125 acts to perform on nine stages. Genres for the entire family offer continuous music and fun activities for the kids. So far some of the confirmed acts are 3 Doors Down, Akon, Alan Jackson, Billy Cunningham, Wet Willie, T-Pain and Anita Baker! More acts are being announced constantly. Market on the Square
October 3-November 21, 2009
Every Saturday the market will be open in Cathedral Square in Downtown Mobile from 8AM to noon. It's a gourmet's paradise. The fresh locally grown veggies are really delicious. Locally made wine, handmade candles, locally caught seafood and art work from local artists add to the magical feeling in the square on those mornings. 6th Annual Alabama Coastal BirdFest
October 15-18,2009
Tours will be conducted along 240 miles of prime birding spots along the Alabama Coastal Birding Trail. There will be delta river cruises and a free bird and conservation expo. Trips and evening events require advance registration. Go to www.alabamacoastalbirdfest.com
Grand Festival of Art by the Bay

You have to go to this just because it's in one of the most beautiful towns in the country, Fairhope. The Eastern Shore Art Center goes all out featuring over 90 artists exhibiting in every possible medium. They hold this on the Fairhope pier so you can walk around this quaint and art filled town when you finish the festival. This venue attracts local and national artists. It's really an upscale event. A Night at the Museum

From 4:30 to 8:30 Mobile history comes alive. I mean really alive. Historical figures are strolling through the museum to give you and your kids first hand info on Alabama history. It's a fun and unique way to learn about the interesting past of the south. Go to www.museumofmobile.
Greater Gulf State Fair

This is just the funfest place to be in the Fall. Carnival rides, top name entertainment, a petting zoo, incredible food and a fun for all midway are only some of the cool activities at this festival. All the events have not yet been announced so keep your eye on www.mobilefair.com.
Woofstock - a four legged celebration

YMCA Wing Bowl V - Chicken Wing Cook-off

Assemble your team and come on down so the judges can determine who makes the best wings in Mobile. There will be a children's area with games and crafts. The proceeds of the event will benefit the YMCA of South Alabama Strong Kids Campaign.
