Advertising itself as an "international" fashion flipbook, Mode Republic users truly are hailing from all parts of the globe. From the Philippines to Australia to Portugal to Hong Kong to Canada and the United States of America, the common language of all Mode Republic's users is simply found in a love for fashion. The outfits tend to be even more diverse than the people wearing them, from cute vintage dresses to trendy combinations of different fabrics garnered from hip stores. Many of the Mode Republic users are quick to let others know that they find most of their favorite "fashion staples" from vintage or second hand shops in their home town, often for vary affordable prices.
Mode Republic's founders state that the purpose of creating this particular fashion community was because, "We [they] believe the best stylists walk on the street around the world. Our [their] goal is to connect these fashionistas with shoppers." The way in which Mode Republic rewards its contributors is directly related to this stated goal. When users post a photograph of themselves in a particular outfit, they are encouraged to state where each particular item was purchased. Additionally, Mode Republic offers a "shop this look" option for those viewing this website. If someone really likes a particular style then they can click on the "shop this look" icon to be taken to a selection of outfit articles that are similar in style to the one portrayed. If someone chooses to purchase something from one of the stores that partners with Mode Republic in offering these styles, then the Mode Republic member who posted the original photograph that inspired the shopper will earn ten percent of whatever that shopper spent. In this way, everyone wins. The fashion industry, through Mode Republic, gains support without complaints of unrealistic models, and "regular" females around the world get the chance to earn money for their "modeling."
