MODERATOR TELLS ALL: What Happened in the FERG NOVA Game?
Shocking Revelations from One of Novaffl's Own
Polo Grounds, VA 22304
United States of America
Let me warm up the oven with some key quotes:
Quotes:
"The Ferg guys played with class, the Nova players bitched every play."
"I thought people had my back in this league, they are a bunch of chickenshit, spineless wimps"
"The Cutters control this league"
"I've decided to withdraw the Conquest from Novaffl and join the Ferg League-we will be there for the spring season"
"I have handed the money over to Jason, only he and Yang are deserving of the remaining proceeds"
I have the full scoop now and it goes a little something like this. In a highly contested game which boiled down to the last, final seconds, the Novaffl squad was driving to the end zone.
After Novaffl scored the game's final touchdown, the Diesel (one of the moderator's own players in the regular Novaffl league -- mind you) was literally on top of the opposing FERG linemen. Some say it was a make shift pancake, others say it was cameltoe soup.
Now you tell me, is it fair to Greco-Roman style an opposing lineman in the last moments of a game? Some of my sources pointed the finger at San Fran for letting lawless line play go on the whole game, thus setting a precedent allowing the linemen a particular form of play free from penalties. Some blame the other moderator in question for failing to call both sides and having an internal beef with the Cutters.
San Fran is a field judge better suited to watching receiver and defensive back play. He is an expert at this. Don't make him a line judge where his experience is less.
Why wasn't Big Tone even fucking mentioned to Head Mod this game? The most altruistic ref this side of the Potomac and he wasn't even given a phone call.
Finally, physical assaults on a mod, and "I'm going to stab your face" actually suffice as elements of the civil torts: assault and battery. No one ever waives these rights my friends, so players beware, lawsuits with damage payouts at 3-5 grand happen all the time even without physical damages.
In the end, Diesel's holding was reported as real as this writer's mighty keyboard. Accordingly, the last touchdown counted (touchdown happened first, then the hold), but the Ferg squad still had 30 seconds left to tie or win the game, plus if I'm correct, both timeouts and of course penalty yardage from the hold. So there you have it. The game was not called, but rather unfinished, with the Ferg team about to get the ball on a kickoff return.
Now if the Ferg team, left the field, they forfeited they're chance. That is the question.
