Modern Wedding Photography in Seattle Washington

N. Ed Woo
Wedding photography is just like anything else in that it goes through phases of styles. Some (definitely not all) of those pictures you laugh at on awkwardfamilyphotos.com were actually not that bad back in the day. Some photographers out there though are still shooting and editing in that 90's or 2000's style. The year is now 2010 and you want your wedding photos to reflect that. And the good news? The modern and more minimalist style that is hip today is going to age much better over time than those pictures of poofy sleeved bridesmaids that you've seen from the 80's.

In Seattle Washington, there are many really talented photographers to choose from to shoot your wedding. There is a wide range of prices and styles. I am going to list some of the photographers out there shooting in the current style. Look at the photos from a bunch of them and you start to get a sense of what the current style actually is. It is a mix of photojournalism, high artistic composition, a bit of high fashion, and fun, funky flair. Basically, these "new school" photographers will make your wedding photos seem like they could just as easily be on the cover of an indie rock album as they could be in a wedding magazine.

These photographers are able to do amazing things with their cameras and put out some great wedding photos. In the 2000's, photojournalism was the predominant style which was great. There were lots of candid shots and it was a definite difference from the 90's which featured more posed shots. However, now, couples are finding that they really do want some posed shots and some photojournalism. And they can have it all. These aren't your mom's posed shots though, the setups are often funky, sometimes tongue-in-cheek funny, many times ethereally beautiful, and almost always unique. 2010 and beyond is a great time to get married and have your pictures taken.
