Mokarrameh Ebrahimi to Be Stoned in Public in the City of Takistan, in Iran

Public is Invited to Participate in Stoning

Dee
Mokarrameh Ebrahimi, 43 is to executed by stoning in the city of Takistan in a public square, in front of a crowd of people on Thursday. She was convicted and sentenced to die for having a child out of wedlock, and committing adultery 11 years ago. The father of the child, who is unidentified, is also to be stoned to death with her.

Ebrahimi has spent the last 11 years in Choubin prison in Ghazvin, and is very distressed, according to Meydaan, the official site of the "Stop Stoning Forever Campaign." An informed source has commented that "the pits are dug and prepared in Behesht Zahra cemetery to implement the sentence." The Judge of Branch 1 will be the first to throw a stone, and the public has been invited to join in the stoning.

Although there had been no witnesses to the crime of adultery, or having a child out of wedlock, the sentence is being based on the judge's "knowledge." There have been numerous rumors about her past, but none could actually be proved. Iran's Islamic Penal code allows stoning as the method of execution for adultery.

Amnesty International is appealing against the scheduled stonings, to the Head of the Judiciary, Ayatollah Shahroudi. Amnesty International is asking that the execution by stoning of the two be stopped and that their sentences be commuted to life imprisonment. They are also asking that all executions by stoning be abolished, according to their public statement.

The Stop Stoning Forever Campaign is asking all citizens of the world to contact Iranian officials to protest against these executions. They are asking to phone and or fax the Iranian officials. The following contact information has been provided:

No wonder he western workd continues to hold sanctions against Iran. Allah did not condone stoning as a punishment for such crimes; it is only the continued backward influence of extremist Islamic states that allow this to happen.

Statement from Kindo proves how backward muslims are how possiby is stoiong good for society other han to be opressive to the people and rule with fear.

I am christian and fear that muslims beleiev in something ah does not exist. Allah will not protect you when the one true God brings judgement on the people who carry out such diabolical acts against humanity and I hope thise concerned or who support this action burn in hell for eternity.

stoning is good for society. Allah said so the will of allah is the foremost inportant. We all belong to allah. So allah decides about our fate. Allah choses when he is merciful and you can not question allah. Allah will otherwise screw you.

While this is horrible in my eyes, it not any more so horrible than things the US is doing to its citizens... Guantanimo needs to be shut down. holding people with no charges has to be stopped. Torture needs to be stopped....

    This stoning was suspended.

The world also needs to call upon the citizens of this area not to participate in any stoning. The stoning won't happen if no one shows up. The willingness of the average citizen to participate is a key factor along with the sentence.

We can't stop this sort of thing with reason. They won't listen to any of the protests from inside or outside their borders. And until ALL countries, especially China and Russia, fall in behind it, sanctions will never work. What are our alternatives? How can we affect this kind of evil?

  • Antoinette McGowan 6/21/2007

Even asking for life imprisonment is outragous. No proof? Just the judges word? Come out and let these two people go unless you can prove accurate proof.

such a shame!! i don't know why the iranians are accepting this circus as "justice"??

  • Wendy Williams 6/21/2007

I've heard so many sad stories like this come out of Iran. I once read about a girl who was raped by her brother in law while she was pregnant. She went into labor but they threw her into prison and were going to execute her for adultery once she had the baby.

  • Dee 6/21/2007

This has got to be the cruelest method of execution, and for a crime of adultery, and not even proven?
