Mold Removal and Other Summer Home Improvement Projects for a Carefree Winter
While Nature is Cooperating, Renew Your Home!
Mold Removal
Black mold is sometimes deadly and selling a house with known mold is prohibited in many states. Summer is the best time to remove walls that contain black mold as there will be no heat loss and the hot summer sun will bake any remaining mold out of existence. Schedule removal for a time when no rain is expected or the problem could get worse.
Interior Painting
Nothing cures paint better than fresh air. In the summer you can leave (screened) windows open to air out nasty pint fumes and cure your paint quickly. Windows can also be left open while painting to make window sills a breeze!
Window Replacement
When it's time to replace your old air conditioner it may also be time to take a good look at your windows. Do you have cracked or broken sills, is your winter weather stripping patched and re-patched as settling has pulled your windows away from their frames? To maximize savings replace your windows now.
Landscape Updates
If you work harder on your garden than you do for your boss it may be time to consider replacing your landscaping with easy care perennials, zero-scape and weed-proofing. One week's hard work can mean years of free leisure time.
Mailbox Renewal
If you've had the same rusty steel mailbox for years while your house has gone through numerous facelifts give your mailman a treat and spiff-up your mailbox. Newer boxes include easy up flags, rear extraction doors and dent proof materiel.
Basement Waterproofing
Spring rain may have left your basement musty smelling. A quick survey after a rain may expose cracks in your floor or walls that just occurred. It's best to fix cracks and leakage before they get out of control to avoid paying for a whole new foundation!
Take a day to look around your house inside and out, many summer repairs are simple. Warm weather allows you to work in comfort and this coming winter you will be glad you took the time to do them!
