We were seated at a large round black lacquered table with an enormous Lazy Susan in the center. A vase of chopsticks were on the table. Our enthusiastic waiter arrived to introduce us to the Molly Woo menu and Chef's specials. He made suggestions and explained that pretty much any dish could be altered such as replacing chicken or beef with tofu. My husband and I were thrilled when we heard this since we are both vegan and it's often hard to find vegan restaurant options.
We took advantage of this by ordering tofu lettuce wraps that are usually made with chicken. They were very tasty and one $7.95 order provided enough servings for all six of us. My husband and I split one order of Molly's Feast ($7.95) and one of Garden Rolls ($5.95). The sushi rolls came out on an attractive green square plate. The rolls themselves looked like colorful artwork. They were filled with red bell pepper, mushrooms, avocado, cucumbers and sprouts that appeared to be growing out of the little rolls. Though not terribly easy to eat, they were flavorful and fresh. The Molly's Feast was a platter of stir-fried eggplant, broccoli, green beans, mushrooms, panko breaded tofu, and, oddly enough, wedges of fresh tomato all in garlic sauce. It was very tasty though I could have done without the tomato which tasted strange in the dish. My parents both ordered Chef's specials of salmon on spicy rice ($14.50). It was an attractive and generous portion that they both enjoyed.
I was happy to learn that dishes can be served with healthy brown rice and that no MSG (which I'm allergic to) is used in the preparation of any of their dishes.
The prices were reasonable and everyone enjoyed their meals, even my parents who are not generally fans of Asian cuisine (but love Cameron Mitchell restaurants). I will definitely return. There are several dishes that I'd still like to try such as the Crispy Tofu, Rainbow Vegetables, and Edamame and Spring Roll appetizers. Cameron Mitchell has created yet another winner in Molly Woo's.
