Moments

Simply Put...it's The Little Things..

David Carr
Moments

When the moments
Start to fade
And all of the memories
Wind up on the cutting room floor

As reality sets in
And the fantasy ends
You leave your heart
In a jar by the door (L&M)

I'm reminded of the moments
That I keep within reach
I use them to teach myself
About happiness and faith

You can't help it
As your mind
Reaches back in time
To an all too familiar time and place

Hands that have been held
Lips that have been kissed
And the feeling of hope and forevermore

Are now just distant memories
Of how you and I used to be…
You represented what I was looking for

And when the moments disappear
I'm left with all these tears
And the feelings that never seem to fade away

If I whisper to no one at all
Through winter, spring and fall
It's the memory of the moments that get me through the day

In a poem about moments and little things it might be nice to mention one.
Best line "You leave your heart in a jar by the door (L&M), I presume that's the brand label on the jar. This is the kind of personal touch or description that makes poems like these great IMO, and keeps them from coming off too metaphysical.

I like this a lot, actually. Very succinct. As I was reading it, I could easily hear it as a song. Nice work.
