Moments to Cherish (An Encounter with My Soul Mate)

Fleeting Moments Are so Hard to Hold On

Adianez
I am a believer of soul mates. My childhood fantasy is to meet my soul mate and look him in the eyes as he professes his joy of finding me.

Fortunately, I am able to meet my soul mate in this lifetime. It took me a solid 23 years of existence before I finally meet him and enjoy his company. Not everyone finds their soul mate in their lifetime while they are still free, single and available.

We have had a great time. At least, for me, I am always floating in cloud nine whenever we are together. He is as witty, as smart and as handsome as I imagined he would be. With him I experienced a lot of butterflies in my stomach all of the time. The proverbial sparks are twinkling even in a bright sunny day. Nothing can ever shatter that wonderful heaven I experience when we are together. I would never exchange such moments with any other.

And then....

BOOM! There goes the sound of the end of joy, my fleeting heavenly moments with my soul mate. He went away to marry her long time girlfriend. Instead of telling me his feelings, he told me that he has a fiancee. They married a few years back on a December and since December is here, the memories just keep rushing once more.

And that is why I only have memories of golden moments to hold on to. Of course, I cannot begin to imagine what could have been if only he saw me as his soul mate, too. It would be interesting to know, wouldn't it?

Although the ending is quite poignant, as long as I focus on the ruggedly handsome smile (still fresh and deeply engraved in my soul) that charms me till my heart jumps out, I will be fine.

One good thing that I learned, however, is that we have more than one soul mate in this lifetime. Well, in other words, we have soul mates in this lifetime. Is it something to rejoice? I guess so. But I tell you, the instant that I knew that "idea" is fact, I was able to smile once more. Hoping against hope that I may find my other soul mate in this lifetime and that he will not let me go whatever happens.
