My son not only flew, he soared! He found a wonderful job and through hard work and diligence, he worked his way to the top. Score one for motherhood, I guess my parenting skills were not too shabby. Eventually, with only phone calls for visits, my son could not handle the separation from his family any longer. He saved, until he had enough money to move back and live comfortably, until he could secure a job. He and his young family, moved home.
My proud moment as a mother and a parent? When my son moved, he was a 22 year old child. Maybe not physically but mentally. When he returned, he was a 27 year old man. Full of self confidence and secure with the knowledge that he could handle any and all situations that life could dish out.
Man he may be but when I first laid eyes on him after so many long years, I still saw my little tow headed boy, skinned knees and bare feet. My heart almost exploded with love. Isn't motherhood and proud parent the best feeling in the world? There is no better.

Post a CommentI enjoyed this story Aunt Tommie. As my oldest prepares to turn 18, this article was reassurance that no matter what, he will be ok. We all grow up and we all watch our kids grow. I don't think we ever prepare for the day that they go from being the little rascal that is running around in diapers to being mature, respectable adults. Everything always has a way of turning out just fine.
Awww...how beautiful. I can't wait until I have the chance to be a mother. :)
