Momma'a Homemade Cranberry Sauce

The Citrus Really Sets it Off

Jean Anne
I have to admit that I am not a big fan of cranberry sauce. So when I saw my mother-in-law mixing up this concoction I thought to myself, there is no way I am going to eat that. Boy, was I surprised! It was the best cranberry sauce ever. Now, every year my kids are asking if I am going to make Grandma Patty's cranberry sauce.

It is quite easy to make and requires very few ingredients. It can also be made a day or two in advance to minimize your preparations on Thanksgiving or Christmas Day.

INGREDIENTS

1 lb. fresh cranberries
1/2 cup sugar
1 medium orange

Simply put the cranberries into a medium size sauce pot with enough water to cover. Add sugar and boil until cranberries are soft and starting to fall apart. While cranberries are cooking grate the peel of the orange and chop the fruit. After boiling is finished add oranges and grated peel. Refridgerate until ready to use. You can also add a bit more sugar if you like your sauce to be sweet rather than sour from the cranberry taste. This recipe will feed approximately six people but you may want to double it. It will be loved by all.
