Mommy Blogging Just Gets Better and Better

No Really, It Is

Genevieve Strazisar
Everyone who is halfway savvy with the Internet knows how blogging has given almost anyone who wants one a voice. Whether that voice is relevant or that anyone is actually listening (Er, reading) is another question all in itself.

Ever wonder what Kitty is up too? Do you know Kitty? You should, after all she has a blog devoted to her daily feline quips that is ironically laid out nicer than my personal blog. I guess there's a niche for knowing all about your neighbor's feline flea problems.

Need a fresh perspective for your Dungeons and Dragons group? (You read that right), why not visit Jonathan's well written blog about tips and tricks for the game? I'm telling you--whether you want this information or not, it's out there for you. Which is why, inevitably, moms of the world would find their voices as well...

Stay at home moms, career moms, it doesn't matter. There is a Mommy blog for everyone. Some serious, some not-so serious, all pretty heartwarming in their own respect.

There does seem to be a pretty murky undercurrent of negativity of some Mommy bloggers, I must admit. The comment box can sometimes mimic what I can only describe as a Mafioso encounter in a dark alley. Don't back an author's opinion on BPA free sippy cups? You better be prepared to take a cyber-bat to the knees because it often becomes personal, but if you think about it--of course some women will take it personally. After all, these blogs are like their babies. They work hard on them and often pour out their souls for the taking. Come between a Mama lion and her cub--well, be prepared for the backlash.

Some of my daily fixes include:Crabmommy- Upfront and wonderfully written, Crabmommy graces us with tampon wiener dog crafts and often takes aim at Gwyneth Paltrow's website GOOP.Why you ask? Because someone needs to stand tall against Gwynnie's colonic rants that's why. Crabmommy sums it up best in her intro, "Because loving your kid is a given, but loving motherhood isn't."

CJane- This is a two-fer really. Courtney Kendrick starting blogging about the woes of infertility. A thoughtful writer, Courtney and her family were faced with great tragedy when her younger sister Stephanie and Stephanie's husband Christian were in a serious, small plane crash, in which their friend and fellow pilot Doug unfortunately passed. Both women have amazing perseverance and their daily blogs are both entertaining and touching. Be prepared to kill a few hours in these ladies archives. I promise, it will be time well spent.

Dooce- A new find for me, apparently I may in fact be the last person to know. A delicious site created by Heather B. Armstrong. Brutally honest and refreshingly raw and uninhibited, Heather takes blogging to a whole new level.
Brilliant and hysterical.

These women are giving a great name to the Mommy blogging genre. Do check out their work, you won't be disappointed. They are all a breath of fresh air in the blogosphere.
