Mom's Buttermilk Biscuits

Mary Wensing Dvorachek
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. shortening
3/4 c. buttermilk

Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Cut in shortening until mix resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in buttermilk, kneed dough gently. Roll out into 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with biscuit cutter (or be creative and use cookie cutters). Bake at 450 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Serve warm or cold, top with butter, jam or syrup.
