Mom's Rewards

Laurie Childree
Our babies are our lives,
They give us smiles that stretch for miles.
We pull our hair and cry from the frustration.
When we think we can't take anymore they dish it out,
The end of the rope they hand us.

The reward for mom at the end of a long day?
She gets to see her little angels sleeping like they can do no wrong.
The silence is delightful,
No one shouting "MOM" or arguing over the front seat

Mom's reward.....
At the end of the day it's peace and quite.
She can have a nice cup of tea, read a book
Mom can even watch a movie all the way through

The day starts with breakfast,
Trying to resist the urge to give into ice cream so they'll get dressed
Running them out the door to catch the bus,
It's horn is blasting showing how late you're running

Mom's reward.......
A few hours to straighten frantically.
She can have a little peace before they come home.
When they come home they show her all they learned

The big reward is bittersweet.
Mom has an empty nest, all the kids are on their own.
She smiles knowing she prepared them for this day.
In part responsible for their success even if in just a small way.
