As a former employee of Monclova Christian Academy, I can testify to the quality education that this school is providing to the community. This academy is a ministry of Monclova Road Baptist Church, and it witholds the doctrine and moral standards of the church. In a society that is compromising standards and morals, Monclova Christian Academy provides a fresh atmosphere. The school is comprised of kindergarten through twelfth grade with approximately 185 students in attendance. It is located in the small city of Monclova, Ohio which is about 20 minutes south of Toledo.
There are several reasons I would recommend the school, but I would like to focus on just a few key issues of interest. First, Monclova Christian Academy hires quality faculty. All teachers have a four year bachelor's degree, and some have their masters. There is an in depth screening process for future employees, so the school is assured of the character and credentials of each teacher. From working with the faculty on a first-hand basis, I know that each one goes above and beyond the calling of the average teacher. They pray for the students on a daily basis and take an interest in each child beyond the classes they take.
Secondly, the student to teacher ratio is low. This allows the teacher to spend quality time with individual students. Since the classes are smaller, the students have more opportunities to participate in classroom discussions and activities. The students are encouraged to ask questions and be involved.
Third, Monclova Christian Academy provides extra-curricular activities for the students. Here is a list of sport and fine art activities that are offered: football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, choir, band, orchestra, ladies ensemble, drama club, yearbook, school newspaper, and outreaches. The wide variety of activities allow students to find their perfect niche and excel in that area.
The academy uses the Abeka and Bob Jones cirriculums. Both of these provide a quality, challenging educational experience. The academy focuses quite a bit on writing abilities, and these curriculums are well-suited to produce intelligent, capable writers. Also, Abeka and Bob Jones are Christian companies, so the material incorporates core beliefs and standards into every subject.
Finally, Monclova Christian Academy focuses on students building a relationship with Jesus Christ. The school was founded on Biblical principles and will never compromise those. Each student is required to take a Bible class every year. Also, they attend chapel services two times a week. Chapel services provide great opportunities for the students to perform and participate. Other Bible electives are offered such as evangelism. Also, the school takes the students on outreaches a couple times a year. In the past, the school has visited nursing homes, sang in malls, passed tracks out downtown Toledo, witnessed at fairs, and participated in other unique ministry opportunities. Also, students are allowed to pray in school. Our society has totally taken God out of public education, but at this academy, God is welcome!

In conclusion, Monclova Christian Academy offers a wonderful education for students. The teachers are well-qualified and go beyond the call of duty. The student to teacher ratio is small, providing more one on one attention. The curriculum chosen for the academy is Christian based and provides a challenge for the students. Most importantly, however, Monclova Christian Academy does not hide behind their beliefs; instead, the academy proclaims their beliefs to the students and the community.
