Monday Morning Headache

Tony Payne
This morning when I awoke
I had a thumping head
I don't know why I got it
But it's something that I dread

I know that in the early hours
I had some funny dreams
The sort where everything is weird
And not quite how it seems

Maybe it was something that I ate
Too late last night
A glass of wine, a lump of cheese
Or too much chocolate

The last two give me migraines
And that could be the cause
Some pills and a cup of coffee
Will maybe cause it to withdraw

So here's me trying to write a rhyme
While feeling half awake
I know that you'll forgive me
If I job down a mistake

Soon hopefully perk up I will
Back to the normal me
And settle down to writing
Another poem, or a story

Well that friends is the story
Of my Monday morn headache
I hope you wake up happier
And soon feel wide awake

I hate having a headache, I get them too often.

In my case cheese, chocolate, caffeine withdrawal and stress. And then the occasional sinus problem... Fortunately I don't get them too often.

I used to never have headaches, Tony -- I mean NEVER. Oh, once when someone socked me in the side of the head I had a brief headache.

Then suddenly I had them every day. It was a pituitary tumor causing them. That's not a problem now, so back to no headaches.

Cheese is a culprit for some I do believe?

    Good luck with those headaches.

Tony, could all these ailments have something to do with upcoming events? Is the stress getting to you?

I hope the headache goes away very soon Tony!

I haven't tried acupuncture Michele, but I have heard a lot fo good things about it. Sorry to hear about your surgery and resulting headaches, they can drag you down can't they.

Tony, I feel your pain along with you. I've suffered migraines ever since my brain surgery - ten years ago now. Have you ever tried accupuncture? It's the only thing that's finally brought me some relief. Cheers
