Monday Night Wars: March 22, 2010

WWE Raw Vs. TNA Impact

Michael Taylor
Tonight was TNA's third chance to declare war on WWE. Last week, I thought WWE had the better show. TNA had a pay-per-view last night and they are live tonight. This is the last Raw before WrestleMania. Did TNA step it up tonight or did WWE have the better show again? Here is my breakdown of the quarter hours and who I thought had the better show this week.

1st quarter hour:

WWE Raw opened with Shawn Michaels coming to the ring to talk about his WrestleMania match with Undertaker. Pete Rose sets up a match with Shawn Michaels against Kane for tonight.

TNA opened with an in-ring segment with Jeff Jarrett and Eric Bischoff. They announced Mick Foley vs. Jeff Jarrett in a loser gets fired match.

Shawn Michaels pretty much said the same things he has said for the last month. I don't particularly care for Eric Bischoff-Jeff Jarrett storyline, but at least it was different tonight. TNA won this quarter hour in my opinion.

2nd quarter hour:

WWE had John Morrison vs. Miz and backstage segment with Triple H and Randy Orton.

TNA had a tag team match with the Beautiful People and Daffney vs. Tara, Taylor Wylde, Sarita, and Angelina Love. They also showed AJ Styles and Ric Flair arriving at the arena.

Both of these matches were very good. It was too close to call this quarter hour.

3rd quarter hour:

WWE had Kofi Kingston vs. Vladimir Kozlov in a Money in the Bank qualifying match.

TNA had in-ring segment with Hulk Hogan, Abyss, Ric Flair, AJ Styles, Sting, and Pope D'Angelo Dinero

Like the first quarter hour, I don't particularly care for the Hogan/Abyss-AJ/Flair storyline, but they kept it interesting tonight. TNA won this quarter hour in my opinion.

4th quarter hour:

WWE had in-ring interview with Legacy followed by a match with Legacy and Sheamus vs. Triple H and Randy Orton.

TNA had backstage segment with Jeff Hardy, Shannon Moore, and Rob Van Dam. They had a match with Rob Terry vs. Tomko. They then showed promos highlighting Eric Bischoff, Mick Foley and Jeff Jarrett storyline.

WWE's match was a lot better. WWE won this quarter hour.

5th quarter hour:

WWE had conclusion to Legacy and Sheamus vs. Triple H and Randy Orton. They also had an in-ring promo by Bret Hart.

TNA had Mick Foley vs. Jeff Jarrett match with Beer Money as special refs.

I am a huge fan of Bret Hart but I liked TNA better this quarter.

6th quarter hour:

WWE had Shawn Michaels vs. Kane.

TNA had aftermath of the Foley/Jarrett match and backstage segment with Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff.

The WWE match was predictable but interesting. No matches for TNA, but was also interesting. I would give this quarter to WWE, but just barely.

7th quarter hour:

WWE had backstage segment with Pete Rose, Christian, and Kane. They also announced Bob Eucker as new inductee to the WWE Hall Of Fame Class of 2010.

TNA had backstage interview with Rob Van Dam and Jeff Hardy. They also had a match between Hernandez and Matt Morgan

This quarter easily goes to TNA.

8th quarter hour:

WWE had divas match. They also had final confrontation before WrestleMania between John Cena and Batista.

TNA had Beer Money vs. Jeff Hardy and Rob Van Dam.

TNA's match was probably the match of the night. TNA won this quarter hour.

Overview:

By my quarter hours, TNA had the better show tonight. The main problem tonight was no X Division match. I think that when TNA is live it makes it more interesting. If they continue to put on shows like tonight and Destination X last night, the war will definitely be on soon.
