"Money and the Law of Attraction" by Esther and Jerry Hicks

A Book Review

Annie Jean Brewer
Money and the Law of Attraction is another book in the Abraham series written by Esther and Jerry Hicks. The premise of the series is that these beings called Abraham speak through Esther Hicks with the goal of enlightening humanity as to our purpose in life.

Our purpose in life, according to these beings, is to experience the journey, and they point out that we all have the potential to create our own reality by aligning our vibration with Source energy. Our emotions are the guidance system we have been given to help us with our vibrational alignment: when we are feeling happy and content, we are in alignment--but negative emotions such as anger or sadness indicate that we have fallen out of alignment with "who we really are."

In my previous review of Esther's and Jerry's books, I confessed surprise and discomfort at the fact that these books are channeled, but the discomfort took a second seat behind the fascination I feel for this material.

The audio CD of a workshop that comes with this particular book helped my personal comfort level immensely. Whether this is truly channeled I cannot say, but it is easygoing and a delight to listen to. I especially enjoyed the occasional witty statements that the Abraham being made.

I listened to the audio first before diving into this book. The audio seemed to make the contents of the book easier to digest on both a comfort and a cerebral level. Regardless of whether or not these beings exist, the information seems sound and the audio delivery is enjoyable, which adds to the value of the book.

This book, titled Money and the Law of Attraction is actually not so much about money as it is about your life itself. While the book I previously reviewed, The Law of Attraction is considered to be the primer I found this one to be easier to understand and much more useful.

This book stresses the link between your emotions and the things you attract in a way that is easy to understand, leaving out a good portion of the "woo-woo" parts the previous book contained. While it did briefly describe the history behind Abraham, it did not go as far in-depth--which will probably make this copy go over better with readers.

The heart of this book is the same as the other: what you feel and think is what you are attracting, and by changing your thoughts you can change what comes to your life.

This book points out the challenges of making big emotional leaps and discusses the fact that it is impossible to go from strong negative emotions to strong positive emotions. To help with this you are offered numerous tips and tricks to gradually change your emotions to more positive sensations.

Simple things, like changing your focus from worry about the "how" to imagining how happy you will be "when" are outlined in the chapters. There are several exercises within these pages that this reviewer is personally trying out to change where one stands emotionally. Some are little games, others simply involve reasoning with oneself--while others are hard to classify.

This reviewer cannot say that she has attracted a miracle after reading this book but she can state that at the very least the exercises within are great for those dealing with depression or unpleasant circumstances. Simply changing your attitude can work wonders with how you perceive the world and this book is filled with tips on how to do just that.

After giving this book thoughtful consideration, I find that I can recommend this volume not only for those interested in the Law of Attraction but for those who genuinely want to change their negative thought patterns and become happier people. While the book's title focuses on money the actual content covers much more than the financial and may benefit any who read it with an open mind.
