Money Soap: A Novel Gift

Hidden Money in a Bar of Soap

Annette Robbins

We received a bar of Money Soap as a gift from our daughter and her family. Admittedly neither my husband nor I had ever heard of or seen this product. The soap was a light green and what was intriguing was its light, refreshing, pleasant scent. The unusual thing about the money soap is that eventually after constant use, the soap wears down to the point that you can retrieve the currency bill that was placed within the soap. Currency embedded in the soap ranges in denominations of $1, $5, $10, $20 or a $50 bill. We used the soap and finally after many showers and handwashing, we discovered the one dollar bill that had been embedded in the soap. It was fun wondering what "treasure" would be within the soap.

The soap is manufactured by Old Virginia Candle Company and retails for between $8-$10. To save on shipping charges, you may find it helpful to search local gift specialty shops to see if the soap is carried in their stock. You can find out more about this soap by visiting the Old Virginia Candle website. Several online stores carry Money Soap and by doing a web search you can find a retailer. The wrapper on the Money Soap states that the soap is not recommended for children. For an interesting, different gift, you may want to consider Money Soap as an unusual, fun gift. Whatever bill is contained within the soap, have no fear, it will all come out in the wash!
