Money-Saving Tips for Holiday Cards

It Can Get Somewhat Overwhelming During the Holidays

Before the Christmas presents come, the time to send out holiday cards comes much sooner. Sometimes you have so many people to send cards to, your budget will not permit. Follow these guidelines and you will have a card or two for each person you need to send to.

1. Re-use the cards that have no signature in them. Many times, people send or give cards to others without writing a single word in them. Instead of tossing them out each year, or placing them inside of a box. Start re-using them. Saves time, and saves money.

2. Buy the cards when they are on sale. Many bargain stores start selling holiday cards months before the holidays begin, and at a low price. Instead of waiting until the holidays are around the corner, buy them before. This will allow you to stock up without breaking your budget.

3. Make your own holiday cards. No one appreciates it more when something is given to them that is hand made. You could use construction paper, glitter, stickers, holiday cut-outs, or whatever you imagine them to look like. All the supplies can be purchased at your local retail store.

4. Purchase holiday cards at a wholesale club. During the holidays, wholesale clubs offer great deals on holiday cards. You can buy them in bulk and save up to 50%.

5. Check out the thrift stores in your area. Many times thrift stores get a lot of boxed holiday cards that are perfectly fit to give to people on your card list. Although some of the boxes may be half full, you can buy two or three of them and still stay well within your budget.

6. Holiday card exchange sites. Many have not heard of them before, however if you go online and do a search, you will find that there are many places willing to sell you boxes of used, yet not written on holiday cards. You can save money, while still giving out holiday cards to those on your list.

Not only will you save money by trying these ideas, you may even have enough extra money to go out and buy something other than holiday cards.
