Pardon me for exhaling. Are we allowed to breathe?
There is no problem with a number of measures that would significantly improve the environment. Tree farms, fish farms, solar power, wind power, and hydro power are all acceptable. Recycling is a good thing. Microwaves are good because they're energy efficient. Bikes and electric vehicles are smart because they produce less heat and fewer carbon emissions. Energy conservation measures are tolerable. It is worthwhile to preserve forests, rivers, and mountains.
But what is alarming about the ecology movement is the way they fail to value their neighbors: They seem to think that if people get in the way of tree growth, it's OK to get rid of people.
Unspoken among the radical ecology people is their hatred for other people. Implied in their sentiment is that they want to preserve a pristine environment for themselves and not worry about the rest of American society. Some people come to the conclusion that they are better than the rest of us, and they reach that conclusion at an early age. That misconception is confirmed by an educational system that confuses conformity with intelligence. They seem to believe that they can preserve their environment while getting rid of a lot of people.
They are misanthropes. These people don't mind if millions die while government is busy controlling people by monitoring carbon emissions. It's a sick, disgusting joke.
The rest of American society does not owe the ecology movement a trip back to the Garden of Eden (or the Neolithic Age). Were they not such control freaks, we could be producing electric vehicles, just as we produced them a hundred years ago (see picture). The true problem for the control freaks is loss of control.
Horatio Alger? That idea can be kissed goodbye. There will be no more rags to riches economic stories because carbon emissions must be controlled.
The prescription for this "Save the Environment, Get Rid of People" mentality is to kick these people out of government, their most common haven. We should do just that in the House elections of 2010. We can then find scientists who can balance concern for the environment with concern for people. That will be a better approach.
