The haunted attraction Monster Mountain: Legend of Cavern Hills located just outside of Nashville, TN is ready for the Halloween season, and definitely open for business. A trip there last Saturday night proved a great diversion for a group of twelve, including myself. While the lines were lengthy, and the bathroom accommodations (port a johns no less) definitely have room for improvement, overall we had a screamingly good time as we passed through this haunted attraction.

I hesitate to call it either a haunted house or haunted woods which seem to be the most commonly used names, because while the trail twists and turns throughout the woods in the area, each person will pass through several structures on their way through including a house, a boat and several other areas that escape my abilities of description.

The actors who dot the way through the trail are outfitted in very realistic costumes, and play the parts of ghouls, ghosts and goblins very well. While they may come as close as humanly possible to you to elicit a scream, for the most part they seem to avoid touching the people passing through, and as they will inform you in the initial reading of the rules you are asked to refrain from touching them as well.

The "Cannibal's Kitchen" provided a scream a minute from the younger members of our group, as we made our way through the imagined horrors of other people being served up for consumption by the unlucky guests. The trip through there made even the most iron stomached of our group a little squeamish.

Then on down the trail, Club Corpse, which provided all of us with the unique opportunity to get down with one of the actors on the dance floor. Take it from me, you have never really danced until you have done it with a chainsaw wielding maniac. Speaking of chainsaw wielding maniacs, the ones located throughout this haunted attraction seemed to have a very uncommon ability in the Halloween industry. They knew just when to back off. In lots of haunted attractions, you will see unlucky visitors chased running and screaming by the undead holding chainsaws, and don't get me wrong; these guys will chase you too. However, they back off when you become scared, leaving you time to slow down and catch your breath before the next ghoul attacks. Overall, I would say the Monster Mountain: Legend of Cavern Hills haunted attraction was the best twelve dollars I have spent in months. They offer great Halloween entertainment for everyone from the wild to the mild. The ages in our group ranged from thirteen years old to forty-six years old, and not one out of the twelve escaped without a few scares and a lot of laughs resting securely under their belt. If you are in the Nashville area this Halloween, and are looking for a way to spend a night to remember with friends, check out Monster Mountain: Legend of Cavern Hills, you won't be disappointed.
