Game Background
You are Doc Mock, and you are trying to revive the classic monsters of the past, like Frankenstein, the Wolfman, and other infamous creatures lost in time. However, the modern monsters of today, like Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers, and others, do not like this idea and have decided to try and stop Doc Mock. Avoid the deadly hands of these contemporary villains and bring to life the monsters of Halloween past.
Gameplay
If you have ever played BurgerTime, you should be familiar with the gameplay. Basically, each level in this 2-D game is comprised of many floors, which you can reach by way of ladders. Scattered throughout each stage are body parts that you must drop on top of each other to build your monsters. To drop body parts, simply run over them completely. Body parts will drop down one level. Keep running over body parts until they all drop below the bottom level to complete your creations.
There will be enemies scattered around the level as well. They are attracted to you, so strategically move around so that you are not stuck between two enemies. Touching an enemy results in instant death. You have a total of 3 lives.
You have a few weapons at your disposal. You are given a total of 5 acid solutions, which kill enemies instantly for the duration of the level. You also have 5 electro-tasers, that stun enemies for a given amount of time.
Items will be available periodically in each level and will appear for a short time before disappearing. Collect them to add to your stock.
Game Extras
MonsterTime has a total of 7 songs that can be chosen while in-game by pressing numbers 1-7. There are also 2 modes of difficulty, easy and normal.
Game medals will be added in a future update.
Review
MonsterTime is a classic 2-D game with an interesting Halloween twist. I found the story line to be the most interesting aspect of the game as well as the best part of the game. It helped make me interested in the game in the first place. The 7 song choices is also a welcome break from the monotonous 1-song games. The game concept is also pretty solid, since it is just a remake of an old game. The artwork is also reminiscent of classic arcade games.
Overall, MonsterTime scores a 10/10 for being a creative twist on an old 2-D game.
