Montana Fishburne Sex Tape Part of New 'Thrill Sex' Adult Movie Genre?

The news that now-notoriously famous Montana Fishburne wanted to find her fame and fortune along the Kim Kardashian path to success (read: sex tape release) took most people by surprise, including her father, famed actor Laurence Fishburne. It was even more surprising that the sex tape wasn't technically a sex tape at all -- it was a purposely made porn movie by Vivid Entertainment designed, Montana Fishburne said in a press release, to put her on the fast-track to fame and success.

And, still more surprising, Montana noted that it was Kim Kardashian's sex tape that had inspired her to seek out the adult film company to make her first movie. The release would not go through the myriad denials and claims of being "leaked" or stolen. It was a flat-out agreed-upon adult movie -- called a "thrill sex" video or tape -- that Laurence Fishburne's teenage daughter had willingly participated in making.

But what is a "thrill sex" tape (or video or movie)? Aren't all unprofessional sex tape videos "thrill sex tapes"? To a certain extent, the answer would be "yes," but Montana Fishburne's adult movie isn't the same. It was professionally produced and had actual porn stars performing in it.

Thrill sex generally occurs when individuals engage in sex that can be somehow deemed inappropriate. For example, having sex in a public place or in front of a window with no curtains is considered "thrilling." Thrill sex can involve all sorts of aspects deemed inappropriate, but usually also involves the idea of getting caught in the act. Making sex tapes and videos has been considered a type of thrill sex for quite some time, but the adult film industry relegates these to amateur porn status. What Vivid Entertainment means when they label Montana's porn movie as a "thrill sex video" is an extension of that theme -- but having as the main focus individuals who make a porn movie for the thrill of it, not actually as an attempt to enter the adult film industry.

Kelli McCarty, Miss USA 1991, may have been the first "thrill sex" star when she released "Faithless" in 2009. She told Fox News that she loved having sex and she loved acting, so decided to wed the two. She even co-wrote the screenplay. McCarty is the first Miss USA and television star ("Passions") to purposely make an adult movie just for the "thrill" of it.

Vivid Entertainment -- the adult video company also responsible for the distribution of sex tapes from Pam Anderson, Mindy McCready, Shauna Sand, Kendra Wilkinson, and Kim Kardashian -- said that Montana Fishburne had approached them with the idea of jump-starting her career with a sex tape. Obviously, they jumped at the chance.

Just five days after the announcement that Vivid would make "Montana Fishburne: An A-List Daughter Makes Her XXX Debut" available on Aug. 18, the adult video company announced, citing "unprecedented demand," that they were releasing the sex tape eight days sooner.
