Montauk Daisy
wild and unruly to some
simple and beautiful to others
you start off so green
all succulent leaves
wild and unruly to some
simple and beautiful to others
you start off so green
all succulent leaves
Montauk Daisies
large and sunny flower
abundant on the east end
of my native home
Long Island
Montauk Daisies
some pruned to bushes
others growing and spreading
wild and wonderfully on
the side of the road
Montauk Daisies
coloring the countryside
come September
when summer is at it's
near end
Montauk Daisies
most beautiful in October
bring memories of joy and love
beckoning us to
come back every year

Post a CommentGreat poem! I love Montauk daisies because they are very hardy and also a consistant fall bloomer. The only pitfall is they tend to get a bit leggy. If you leave the dormant stems in the winter, they will regrow from that wood. Isn't that neat?
