Montel Williams on the Oprah Show

Mary Kirkland
I was watching The Oprah Show today and saw a very emotional Montel Williams talking to Oprah. This is not the same Montel I was used to seeing, this Montel was very emotional, often crying and talking about being suicidal, depressed and in pain from living with MS (Multiple Sclerosis).

Montel Williams has lived with MS for 10 years, he told his viewers on one show that he had been diagnosed with MS. Oprah said she had been thinking after he announced on his show he has MS, that "He told us about it but he seems fine."

She asked him about living with MS and he told her, "I go backstage and for a second let out a good cry." MS is a painful depilating disease that a lot of people are living with.

Montel also said he has been so depressed and in so much pain that he has been suicidal, at one point he threw himself in front of a cab, the cab driver got out and recognized who he was and helped him to the sidewalk. Another time he said, "I am sitting in the closet with a gun in my mouth, trying to figure out how to stop the pain."

Montel was asked what he fears the most when he wakes up in the morning, he said his biggest fear is not being able to walk.

Montel Williams talked about his retirement from his talk show and told Oprah to, "Thing long and hard before you say, enough."

Montel is 52 years old and spent 17 years as a talk show host and has written books about his experience with MS.

Dr. Oz was also on the Oprah show and talked with Montel giving him advice on his exercises as well as his diet. Montel was in the gym with Dr. Oz and while working out Montel started crying when he was asked about the pain he has to work through while beginning his workout.

Montel Williams has written a new book called, Living Well Emotionally, Break Through to a Life of Happiness. In it he discusses why it's important to ask for help after getting a diagnosis like he got.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a painful and disabling disease that attacks the nervous systems. Mostly the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves. Symptoms vary from person to person but include pain, numbness, paralysis and vision problems.

I wish we were able to go back and fix the spelling mistakes, but after it's published we can't. I felt terrible when I saw that.

'told Oprah to, "Thing long and hard before you say, enough." '
    ...
'MS is a painful depilating disease'

This the first time I've heard of MS causing hair loss. Don't you guys have sub-editors? Spell-check alone is not enough ..!
