An Associated Content Writer Gives a Review of His Work

K.L. Stevens
Last month I started a monthly update of my work on Associated Content. I have two goals for these updates: I'd like to use them to keep myself motivated, and I'd like to give an idea of what to expect to other Associated Content writers and potential writers. You can view my inaugural article here: Monthly Associated Content Review, July 2010

August 2010 was my best month as an Associated Content writer. I had 7,220 page views, which was my highest monthly total. On August 12 I had my highest one day total ever also, 800. Most of this came from one article, which I chose because it was hot on Google Trends: Who is Keith Halloran? (And why does he want Sarah Palin to die?) I got 586 page views from that article on August 12. Unfortunately I've only had a total of 1,216 page views from that one. Unless the guy makes another comment about Sarah Palin, I'm afraid that article is pretty much dead in the future.

For August, I made $11.19 in performance bonuses. I made another $5.09 for article submissions. I'm happy with those numbers. It was, by far, my best month as a writer on Associated Content, but I'm afraid September won't be as high for the performance bonuses. I've been busy and this is my first September article. I think I need to crank out a few more to have a chance at beating August.

My highest grossing article is still: Four Things to Know If Your Dog Ate a Used Tampon. After the Keith Halloran article, my next highest page view count article was MTV's Jersey Shore Dictionary: The Slang You Can't Live Without. That pulled in quite a few views in only 15 days. The Jersey Shore articles have been popular. On a not entirely unrelated note, can you believe Vinny slept with both Snooki and Angelina? Wow, just wow!

I'm going to try to attack a few Google Trends topics, but it seems like other Associated Content writers are all over that. Someone beat me to the Keith Halloran punch, although I'm still happy with the performance. I did strike out on a few Google Trends topics also, especially this article: Bryce Harper: Will He Sign with the Washington Nationals? I did not do my research on that one. It turned out to be a one day story... oh well.

Thanks again for the support. I'm looking forward to analyzing the results for September!
