Moody Gardens in Galveston, Texas Now Hosting "Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition"

If you find yourself in Galveston, Texas this spring or summer and get tired of hanging out on the beach, you might want to consider a journey into the past. Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition is continuing its acclaimed tour at Moody Gardens in Galveston. The exhibition, presented by RMC Titanic, Inc., opened in the historic Texas coastal city earlier this year for a limited engagement that ends September 7, 2008.

The exhibition's artifacts were recovered from the wreck of the RMS Titanic, which left Southampton, England on April 10, 1912 on her maiden voyage, en route to New York. The Titanic sank on the night of April 14-15 after striking an iceberg; 1502 passengers perished, while only 705 were saved.

Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition is an internationally acclaimed Exhibition seen by more than 20 million people worldwide. The focus of the exhibition is Titanic's compelling human stories as told through more than 125 authentic artifacts and extensive room re-creations. A chandelier, gentleman's jacket, china etched with the logo of the elite White Star Line, and perfume vials that still contain perfume-- these and many other objects offer haunting, emotional connections to lives abruptly ended or forever altered.

When you enter the exhibit you will receive a replica of the actual boarding pass passengers were given for that fateful trip in April 1912. You will then embark on a chronological trip through Titanic's history, starting with its construction, moving on to the tragic sinking and the recent discovery of the wreckage, and finally culminating with the present-day salvage efforts. Visitors will be amazed at the authentically re-created cabins, be able to press your hands against an iceberg, and learn of the passengers' stories of heroism and tragedy.
