The world loses a Sexy Pin-up, Sci-fi's First Lady and a Sultry Feline

Pin-up icon Bettie Page succumbed to pneumonia on December 11, she was 85. The secretary-turned-model became the woman of many of men's (and some women's) dreams in the 50s and 60s. In 1955, she was Playboy's Miss January and posed in bondage and as a dominatrix in the 60s thus setting the stage of a new sexual revolution that still goes on in private circles and clubs. For a time Page stepped out of the spotlight until the 1990s, offering interviews and making rare appearances meeting a new legion of fans. With a plethora of posters, art books, stickers and Zippo lighters Bettie's memory will live on for generations to come.

Majel Roddenberry, wife of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry, died of leukemia on the morning of December 18. She's been part of the Sci-fi legacy playing key parts such as the computer for each series in the franchise and as Deanna Troi's mother Lwaxana Troi; often making advances at Captain Picard. Besides being the excutive producer of two of her husbands other creations Andromeda and Earth: Final Conflict (she played Dr.Julianne Belman in the latter), she kept the Star Trek machine going after losing her husband in 1991; recently she reprised her role as the computer in the 2009 release of J.J. Abrams film Star Trek. Her family friends and son Eugene Roddenberry Jr. were at her side when she passed away in her Bel-Air home; she was 76.

Eartha Kitt, the self proclaimed sex kitten, died of colon cancer on Christmas Day. She was a legend in her own time as a singer, dancer and actress. Her Christmas song "Santa Baby," recorded in 1953, was certified gold and Kitt was awarded the gold record before her passing. She gained much notoriety for her cat like voiced that earned her the role of Catwoman on 60s television show Batman; where she gave the world her signature purr. She gained a new fan base in the 90s guest starring on Living Single, playing seductress Lady Eloise in Boomerang with Eddie Murphy and in 2000 as Yzma in Disney's The Emperor's New Groove with David Spade. Kitt was 81 and is survived by her daughter and 2 grandchildren.

The L Word returns for a final farewell

Showtime's first lesbian drama comes back for a 6th and final season that has generated a buzz. There are some familiar faces coming back as well as a few new ones. Everyone's favorite warrior princess Lucy Lawless appears as a cop investing a mystery involving a major character. Saved By The Bell alum and Showgirls star Elizabeth Berkley comes on the scene as an old college friend of Bette's (Jennifer Beals). She'll be someone Bette had a crush on back in the day; "the one that got away" if you will. This won't be too much of a stretch since she and Beals are longtime friends who also appeared in the indie film Roger Dodger. Don't miss the premiere of The L Word on January 18; the first two minutes will shock you.

No "I Do" for Speidi

Heidi and Spencer may have the symbolic wedding in Mexico to reflect on but not the legalized one in the states. In a surprising turn of events on the season finale of The Hills, Spencer opted not to legalize their marriage in City Hall like they planned. He wants to give Heidi the wedding she's been talking about for the past three years. Maybe the unexpected visit from Heidi's mom influenced the decision or Stephanie's words resonated that this isn't the right approach for them.

Another moment of clarity - or civility - happened the night before at the SLS Hotel opening party hosted by Bolthouse. Heidi and Kimberly were working well at the party; much to Heidi's surprise Lauren was at attendance with Lo. They had what could be considered a much needed heart to heart. They acknowledged that they missed each other and Lauren offered an olive branch to Heidi should she need it. Hopefully Heidi will make use of the offer; surely she'll need it from time to time.
