Moonlight Serenade

Elizabeth McGill
A moonlight gentleman bows to his partner,

his pale fingertips, lay claim to her hand.

With a small curtsey, she glides gracefully inward,

to fly with him, over midnight lands.

The winds blows a tempo, both fierce and strong,

Then ever so softly, it fills the night's air,

in a sweet rendition of a serenade song,

that gives life unto this grand pair.

She was made for his courting, and he for her love,

and together they dance all through the night.

Pulling on tides with black velvet gloves,

spinning romance for lover's delights.

Laying her softly under the moss covered trees,

he releases her from his tight embrace.

Feeling her kisses on the early dawn's breeze,

he gives in to the morning's brigade.

Once again heading for his nightly throne,

into the skies he slowly fades.

Only to return when that age old song,

plays a gentleman's moonlight serenade.
